About me
I believe in the transformative power of dance and movement.
As a small child I loved that exhilarating feeling of freely moving my body in space. I remember the air on my skin as I would whizz round in circles in the garden. I kept dancing all through my childhood and teenage years, but it wasn't until I was an adult that I understood the benefits of dance and yoga on mental health through my own personal process, and I began to research the effect of movement on the mind and body.
This led me to dedicate my time to studying and practicing a diverse range of movement practices over the past 10 years. These have included ancient hatha yoga, contemporary dance, improvisation, instant composition, somatic techniques, and community-based creative dance practice and pedagogy. At the core of my practice is my enduring love of movement.
In recent years, I’ve brought wellness to corporate workplaces with embodied dance and yoga sessions; I’ve researched the relationship between movement and the environment along the British coastline; I’ve led sessions in end-of-life care homes; delivered dance sessions for women affected by cancer and facilitated inclusive dance and movement lessons for children with special educational needs. I have had the pleasure of working with organisations and companies doing incredible work to teach workshops for participants aged 9 months - 99 years such as Move Dance Feel, Entelechy Arts, Trinity Laban, The Place, Dance in Devon, Moving Waves, DanceAbility International and Age UK.
